Every morning during breakfast, I scour the new listings added to the MLS (Multiple Listing Service). After having done this for quite a while, I have seen all sorts of photos. These include great photos of horrible homes and horrible photos of great homes. The majority of photos seem to be decent photos of nice homes.
While I am still surprised by how bad some of these photos can be, I am even more amazed by some of the staging of the photos. Before I take a professional photo of a home I am listing, I always take the time to work with the owners on staging. For example, it is best not to have the a sink full of dirty dishes or a bed full of clothes showing in a photo if you are trying to sell your home.
The following are some of the funniest and strangest photos I have found of home staging and bad photography. The next time you sell your home, make sure you go over a staging strategy with your real estate agent before having photos taken as well as “proofing” the photos your agent wants to use.

Where do I begin? Beyond the Southwest theme, you may want to box up the teddy bears, put the dog outside, and not make the television the center of the room.

If your teenager is not willing to clean his or her room, you probably shouldn't include photos of it on a listing.

Beyond having mom cleaning in the background, you may want to remove all the magnets & stickers off the fridge.

An agent's nightmare: trying ot get a good picture of the bathroom when there is a mirror opposite the door.
