Preservation Board Meeting
August 26, 2013 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
FreeEver wonder who decides if a city building gets demolished or not? Why that rehab down the street was shut down for not having historic looking windows?
That would be the Preservation Board.
If you have a free Monday afternoon around 4 PM on the 4th Friday of the month, why not drop in and see how the process works.
The Preservation Board is a 9-member panel of citizens and design professionals. The Mayor appoints eight for 4-year terms; the ninth member is Chairman of the Aldermanic Committee on Public Safety. The Board is required to have:
-a registered structural or civil engineer;
-a registered architect;
-a landscape architect or urban planner;
-a real estate broker; and
-an art or architectural historian.
The Board acts as an administrative law judge and is governed by state law. The City Counselor represents the Board and its members.
