First Friday at the Science Center – Star Wars

Step into a galaxy far, far away. Experience special photo ops and costume characters from the 501st Legion and learn about Star Wars science from Dr. Patrick Johnson, author of The Physics of Star Wars. Begin or end your evening with a showing of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in the OMNIMAX® Theater at a special First Friday price! #FridayGeekOut
Know before you go:
Please arrive early and plan ahead for parking. We will have $5 preferred parking in the Oakland Lot. Members can park in the Oakland Lot for free.*
Free parking will be available at the Forest Park Community College garage near the intersection of Oakland and Macklind and free parking in the McDonnell Planetarium lot and around the Planetarium in Forest Park.
*Members must present their membership card to receive free parking.

Unless otherwise noted by the , all activities are FREE! All items marked with a require tickets. Tickets for free screenings available at any box office, starting at 6pm.

Visit the Droid Workshop, featuring the St. Louis R2 Builders, in the Life Science Lab Classroom.
Test your aim at Blast a Trooper and shop from local artist and crafters.
Check out Star Wars games from Game Nite (GROW Meeting Room).
Pose in the trash compactor and shop from local artists and crafters in the Jakku Marketplace (May Hall).
Strike your best pose at the Death Star hallway photo op or in the Emperor’s Throne
Check out local game developers to try out a new game.
Pose by a rebel ship photo op background.
Take a picture in front of Cloud City and shop from out-of-this-world artists and crafters.
Don’t miss the real lightsaber and Stormtrooper helmet props used in filming the Star Wars episodes in the OMNIMAX Lobby.
Take a photo with a half-scale TIE Fighter and to-scale Snowspeeder.
Test out the Blue Motion Simulators, the I-360 Interactive Flight Simulators, and our Virtual Reality Transporter (cost varies by activity).
See the night sky with Public Telescope Viewings by the St. Louis Astronomical Society, beginning at 7:00 PM on Archery Field(weather permitting).

Star Wars Cross Stitch!
Discover the basics of cross stitch by making a simple Star Wars design. Patterns will be available for beginners as well as more advanced levels. Classes last 20 minutes and run every half hour beginning at 6:30pm. $5 for non-members, $2 for members. All materials provided.
