Art Museum Winter Festival

Make the season merry and bright when you visit the Saint Louis Art Museum on December 9-11 for Winter Celebrations! The Saint Louis Art Museum’s gift to you is a weekend of festivities for family and friends inspired by the warmth of the season and cultures near and far. You’ll find performances and art activities that are the traditions you love, and new experiences to delight and surprise. Discover wonderful works of art on your scavenger hunt and see our magical tree. It’s a weekend of joy!

FRIDAY

COMMUNITY SHOWCASE
Performances by high school ensembles fill Sculpture Hall with the sounds of the season:
5 pm: Crossroads College Prep performing classical pop songs and contemporary hits.
6 pm: Clayton High School performing musical hits, along with music from the folk, jazz, and classical traditions.
7:30 pm: Normandy High School performing modern jazz and rhythm & blues.

CREATE LAB
5–8 pm
Drop by the Create Lab in Grigg Gallery and make a festive holiday decoration.

HOT COCOA HAPPY HOUR
5–8 pm
Jingle and mingle at the hot cocoa happy hour in Sculpture Hall while enjoying community performances. A full cash bar is available.

GARDEN WALK
5–8 pm
Revel in the harmonic glee while taking a lantern-lit stroll in the Grace Taylor Broughton Sculpture Garden. Performances include:
5 pm: Rhythm ‘n’ Ruach performing high-energy Hebrew and Jewish music.
6 pm: St. Louis Christmas Carols Association performing traditional favorites.
7 pm: Grupo México, with Gloria Hansen, performing traditional Mexican and Las Posadas holiday songs.

TREE LIGHTING
6:30 pm
Head to the Grace Taylor Broughton Sculpture Garden for the first-annual tree-lighting ceremony with Brent Benjamin, the Barbara B. Taylor Director of the Saint Louis Art Museum.
The Museum’s annual tree lighting ceremony is supported by Ameren Missouri.

WINTER CONCERT
7—8:30 pm
Enjoy the Gateway Science Academy‘s Orchestra and Band during this special winter performance that will raise your holiday spirits! Performance takes place in The Farrell Auditorium.

SATURDAY

COMMUNITY SHOWCASE
Performances by community organizations fill Sculpture Hall with dancing and the sounds of the season:
12:15 pm: Livety: Indigenous Dance performing traditional West African dance and drumming.
1:15 pm: Dance Center of Kirkwood performing scenes from The Nutcracker.
2:15 pm: Hispanic Festival, Inc. performing traditional dance and music from Latin America.
3:15 pm: St. Louis Osuwa Taiko performing Japanese drumming.

CREATE LAB
Noon–4 pm
Drop by the Create Lab in Grigg Gallery to make a festive holiday decoration.

FILMS
Noon–4 pm
Stop by The Farrell Auditorium for a whimsical lineup of animated short films from around the world. Visitors are welcome to drop in for these family-friendly films; no ticket required.

2:15 pm: Center for Indian Cultural Education – Bal Vihar performing traditional Indian dance.
3:15 pm: St. Louis Christmas Carols Association performing winter classics and traditional Christmas songs.

 

SUNDAY

CREATE LAB
Noon–4 pm
Drop by the Create Lab in Grigg Gallery to make a festive holiday decoration.

PERFORMANCE
1–2 pm
Stop by The Farrell Auditorium for a presentation by Afriky Lolo, with Diádié Bathily, performing West African dance and drumming.

COOKIE DECORATING
1–4 pm
What’s more traditional than a holiday cookie? Decorate your own in the Education Center. All supplies provided.

DROP-IN TOUR
2–3 pm
Enjoy a docent-led tour in partnership with the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis‘s production of A Christmas Carol. This free, drop-in tour departs from the Information Center located in Sculpture Hall.
