St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dogtown

March 17, 2014 @ 12:00 am - 4:00 pm

This Monday (March 17th) is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dogtown. If you want the big production family style, head downtown on Saturday. If however, you want the real Irish feel inside a close-knit neighborhood, choose Dogtown (my pick).

Dogtown Parade: The AOH (Ancient Order of Hibernians) first created the Dogtown parade in 1984 and it has been a highlight for St. Louis Irish Community every year since. The parade kicks off with the Irish War Pipers and the Honor Guard, followed plenty of family floats, Irish music, and of course, Irish dancing.

Food: Head over to St. James the Greater  (Tamm & Wade) to grab some corned beef and cabbage dinners in the school cafeteria. Unless you know someone or early really early, don’t expect on getting into Seamus McDaniels.

Parking: Parking is always a problem as Dogtown cannot handle the traffic. Plan on parking a good distance away and doing a bit of walking

Route: The parade starts at 12:00 PM at Tamm & Oakland and travels all the way down Tamm to Manchester Road.
